Get Nerdy on Thirty: A List Nerds Will Love

Share Now

The time has come to get nerdy on thirty! Starting today, every 30th of the month I bring you a list of things that nerds will love from the realm of books, movies/shows, video games, and more! Let’s get started with this month’s list!

Books

1.  Fantasy Book Cafe’s “Leaning Pile of Books”

If you haven’t checked out Fantasy Book Cafe yet, hop on over to see a cleanly designed website with reviews of fantasy novels of all sorts. The “Leaning Pile of Books” feature is where they post about the titles they’ve purchased or received that may not necessarily be getting reviews. Its a nice way to see a digestible tidbit about a handful of titles quickly when you’re looking for something new to dive into.

2. The Most Anticipated Fantasy Books of 2017

BestFantasyBooks.com has an impressive list of titles to keep your eye on for 2017. My only big question is why the heck isn’t “Dragonwatch” on this list?!

Movies/Shows

3. Starlord himself tells us how awesome “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” will be

That’s right, Starlord is stepping through the fourth wall to tell us all why we should watch this movie (as if we needed the encouragement)!

4. Why the “Tomb Raider” movie reboot won’t be terrible (hopefully)

Could it be that there will actually be a good movie based off a video game? A man can dream, can’t he? Speaking of which, who can tell me if the Warcraft movie is worth watching?

Video Games

5. Seven things people love (and hate) about “Zelda:  Breath of the Wild”

Dang it. Now I have to get a new console. Why must I love Zelda games so?

6. Ten of the greatest female characters in gaming history

Excuse me, Game Zone, if that is your real name, but you have committed a grievous wrong. How is Alyx Vance not on this list?!

Extras

7. Things everyone gets wrong about cosplay

The only rule of cosplay; if you’re having fun (and not hurting anyone), you’re doing it right. Its a secret life goal of mine that someday someone will choose to cosplay one of my characters at a con and send me a picture of it.

8. Pokemon GO releases shiny pokemon into the wild…?

During the ‘water festival’ event water pokemon have been more prevalent, but it ended yesterday. I guess we’ll find out starting today whether the shiny magikarp were event specific or not.
