Works in Progress Update July 2017

So, I ended up with egg on my face at the beginning of the month. I told my mailing list subscribers a while back that they’d be getting the playable demo of the game in advance of everyone else in the June newsletter. Unfortunately, it turned out that mail chimp can’t send the file type that the game exists as and I wasn’t able to fulfill it. Oops.

Already knowing that the game demo would release in the second half of July anyway, I decided to go ahead and expand it a bit in the interim. I’m still finishing up a few of the threads I decided to flesh out for a few more screens but the demo will release next week as planned.

What can you expect from the demo? Here’s a glance at a few things you’ll encounter if you explore enough threads:

  • Defeating an Infected within your ranks
  • Exploration of the way class and specialty decisions at the beginning of the game can affect story outcomes
  • Dying, in a multitude of ways including
    • Shot by an ally
    • Eaten by an Infected
    • Executed for Treason
    • Cut down after enraging a bystander
    • Arrested and fed to the Menagerie specimens
  • Falling to the corruption
  • Performing a mass execution in the name of public safety
  • Convincing your partner not to perform a mass execution in the name of public safety

I’ve tried to pack as many different ways of resolving the opening scene as possible into the demo to give you all an idea of what to expect in the full game, so I hope you’ll enjoy it.

All this being said the game is proving to be a bit more a time sink than originally anticipated. So as to avoid ending up with more egg on my face at the end of the year I’m going to revise my original goal, set back in December, of releasing it in 2017. While it’s still possible the full game may release this year, I’m also going to say it might not come out until 2018. That gives me wiggle room to work with so I can make sure my books remain my top work priority, which I think you guys would prefer anyway.

Speaking of my books how is Roc Rider coming? Swimmingly. Still working on edits, and not much exciting to report, unfortunately, but it’s going well and on schedule.

That’s about it for this month all. Keep your eyes peeled for the game next week.

Happy Reading,

Aaron
